New Nova 380 motor: Taiwanese motor, dual ball bearings, replaceable brushes and springs, adjustable timing.
This motor is literally like a ball bearinged version of the typical Mabuchi 370 motor and can therefore handle obcene over-voltage like the 370 motor but with replaceable brushes and ball bearing shaft support which eliminates the motor shaft bushing wear issues of the 370 motor.
Lower Kv ( 3500-4200) provides marginal climb on 2 cells even with timing advanced, however, provides excellent power and climb on 3 cell lipo packs as long as reasonable caution and throttle restraint is used. Motor is actually designed for 9.6 volts maximum, but can handle periodic bursts of full 3 cell throttle without damage. We have tested this motor and have yet to burn it out. Both the Park Hawk 2 and Slow Hawk 2 can climb out rapidly on 3 cells with about half throttle setting, and then cruise on 1/4 throttle. This set up is like having a lot more under the hood, just use common sense and you shouldn't have any problems.
Bye !
